The community of Russell serves as the regions health center with 4 family physicians. The following services are offered through the Russell & District Health Centre:

Education

The Asessippi Parkland is within the Parkwest School Division (www.pwsd.ca) & boasts excellent primary, secondary & post-secondary education facilities. The Town of Russell is serviced by a Kindergarten to Senior 4 (Grade 12) School while the neighboring communities of Binscarth & Inglis offer Kindergarten to Grade 8. Our school year begins in September and runs until June.
Assiniboine Community College Parkland Southwest Regional Center offers full-time college certificate programs and a number of continuing education and general interest programs. ACC also delivers English as an Additional Language (EAL) programs upon demand.

Housing prices in the Asessippi Parkland range from between 50,000 to 130,000 depending on the community, the size of the home and lot and the location. It is save to say though, that the average is well below the provincial average of $203,000 (source: http://www.livingin-canada.com/house-prices-canada.html Sept, 2009). Most homes available in the Asessippi Parkland are single detached homes with a yard. It is possible to find homes in the communities of Angusville, Binscarth, Inglis and Russell as well as in the countryside surrounding these communities. Many people also purchase empty lots and build their own homes.

The Russell & District Recreation Commission serves the entire region & is operated by a volunteer board of directors. The goal of the Commission is to provide facilities, programs, resources and services in order to encourage discovery of, and on-going participation in “active living” pursuits as well as “life enrichment” opportunities.
The commission is staffed by an energetic Recreation Director/ Education Facilitator.

Visual & Performance Arts

The Wade School of Dance provides training in Ballet, Tap & Jazz for children and adults. Dancers can also explore cultural dance through the Yachminka Ukrainian Dance Club.
Vagabond Theatre Company was formed in 2004 and has proven to be a successful venture. This community theatre company has run musical, drama and comedy productions for adults and youth and also hosts an annual summer Arts Adventure camp.
The Prairie Arts group is an organization dedicated to the exhibition, presentation and appreciation of the visual arts. They have hosted regional Juried Arts Shows, several local art exhibitions and have delivered a number of arts education opportunities and workshops in the region.
Private music lessons in piano, voice, guitar, fiddle and drums are widely available through a number of talented teachers.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Snowmobiling, a popular winter pastime, is enjoyed by many. The Asessippi region is part of a larger area that promotes over 1,000 km of groomed snowmobile trails.
Asessippi Ski Hill and Winter Park offers a variety of downhill terrain for avid skiers and snowboarders. They also feature a tubing park that is fun for the whole family. As well, there is local access to two scenic, groomed cross-country ski trails located in the Assiniboine Valley (along Lake of the Prairies) and in Riding Mountain National Park.
The TransCanada trail runs through the area linking communities with a trail system suitable for hiking, biking and horseback riding.
