
• Find permanent housing. If you haven't done so, contact a local real estate office to investigate the housing market, prices and rules. You'll be surprised to see the great selection of first class houses, farms & acreage's available in Parkland.
• Get a telephone and /internet installed. There is a variety of Internet & phone options available in the Parkland. Go to your local MTS store or electronics dealer for more information on options and pricing.
• Register your children in school. Visit the school to find out more.
• Get a Manitoba Driver’s License. As a visitor to Manitoba you can usually use your foreign driver’s license in combination with an international translation. As a new comer you'll need to apply for a Manitoba driver’s license within the first three months of your arrival. Sometimes that means that you have to do a written and/or drivers test. • Find a family doctor. After you have received your Manitoba Health card you can register you and your family with a family doctor. The Town or City Hall will provide you with a list of doctor's and clinics in your area.
• Find out if your children need to be immunized. Ask your doctor!! Bring (if available) your foreign medical records with you.
• Enroll in English as an Additional Language Classes. Did you know that EAL (English as an Additional Language) classes are available for free to new comers!! Contact your Immigration Services Coordinator for class schedules and institutions.
• Apply for the Canada Child Tax Benefit.
• Apply for the GST Credit
